ESI Registration

ESI (Employee State Insurance) registration is mandatory for certain employers in India as per the Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948. The ESI scheme provides social security and health insurance benefits to employees in case of sickness, maternity, disablement, and death due to employment injury. Here is a guide on how to register for ESI.

Eligibility: ESI registration is mandatory for establishments employing 10 or more persons (20 or more in some states) and engaged in specified categories of industries/businesses.

Documents and Information Required: Gather the necessary documents and information before initiating the registration process. This may include:

PAN (Permanent Account Number) of the employer.

Address proof of the establishment.

List of employees along with their Aadhar and bank details.

Memorandum and Articles of Association or partnership deed.

Date of commencement of business.

Online Registration: ESI registration is done online through the ESIC (Employees' State Insurance Corporation) portal. Employers need to visit the ESIC's official website (https://www.esic.nic.in/) to initiate the registration process.

Visit the ESIC Portal: Navigate to the ESIC portal and look for the option to register your establishment.

Fill in the Details: Fill in the required details in the online registration form. This includes information about the establishment, its location, nature of the business, and details of the employees.

Submit the Application: After filling in the details, submit the application form on the online portal. The system will generate a unique registration number.

Receive Confirmation: Once the application is submitted, the employer will receive a confirmation regarding the successful submission of the ESI registration application.

Verification by ESIC: The ESIC will verify the details provided in the application. If everything is in order, the ESI registration will be approved.

Issue of ESI Code: Upon approval, the ESIC will issue an ESI code for the establishment. This code is unique to the establishment and is used for all ESI-related transactions.
